Neelam Khawani-Connett (Neels) is a Lived Experience Practitioner with a background in psychology and has specialist expertise in Therapeutic Communities (TCs), group therapy, and relational care. She works within the UK and internationally, delivering training, supervision, and consultancy across mental health, homelessness, and addiction services, and assessing therapeutic environments for quality and improvement. Neels has extensive experience working with personality disorder, psychosis, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and complex multi-diagnosis presentations, supporting individuals and services in exploring therapeutic approaches beyond or alongside pharmaceuticals. Her lived experience and clinical knowledge make her a passionate advocate for trauma-informed, relational approaches to personality disorder care. An active researcher, writer, and international conference speaker, she champions mental health systems that move beyond diagnostic labels toward more inclusive, responsive, and person-centred care.
