Emma is a mum, swimmer and mental health nurse lecturer at the University of Central Lancashire, previously working in inpatient and community forensic services.

She has involvement in teaching a number of degree and masters modules in nursing and doctoral supervision. Her doctoral study explored the experiences of the time patients and students share together in secure units for people carrying a personality disorder diagnosis. Emma was previously course lead for masters course and modules exploring the term and diagnosis of personality disorder.

Emma developed and led on public engagement events and social media for her faculty for many years and was previously one-third of the Twitter community @WeMHNurses. She was also previously secretary for BIGSPD and led social media.
