Dr Iain McDougall

Dr Iain McDougall is a consultant psychiatrist, psychotherapist and psychoanalyst who is the current chair of the Northern Ireland Personality Disorder Network. He works clinically as a consultant psychiatrist in the Belfast HSC Trust’s Self Harm and Personality Disorder service, a predominantly mentalisation based treatment service established 10 years ago. Iain is also an IHI Improvement Advisor and works as a Quality Improvement Trainer within Belfast helping train, support and mentor service improvements utilising a Quality Improvement framework. He has published and presented in relation to personality disorder treatment in Northern Ireland, psychiatry and films, Balint groups, self-harm groups for teenagers and engaging people with mental health issues through music. He has a current interest in the overlap of trauma diagnoses with personality disorders.
